Everyone remembers their first knife. This is the moment when a piece of steel, wood and a little courage creates something tangible-an object that can be picked up, used, and sometimes even passed on to future generations. For me, this was the beginning steel N690.

The first knife-the steel that shaped me

I took my first steps during my training at the company Ears of corn (www.klosy.plIt was there, from a piece of N690, that the knife was created, which to this day is the most important tool in our family kitchen.

Although my biggest passion is hunting knives, this kitchen knife has a special meaning for me. It wasn't perfect – like any first project – but in my eyes it was beautiful. He was first success symbolproof that I can create something solid and valuable with my own hands.

I also remember the lesson I learned when creating it. When I inadvertently satinated the blade, I cut myself quite seriously. The scar on my arm still reminds me that a knife is not a toy-it is a tool that requires respect and responsibility.

N690 in the eyes of the masters

My adventure with the N690 Steel didn't end in that training session. I also had the opportunity to work with her in Austria, during workshops with the cutting master Kappelera (www.messermacher.atThere I became even more convinced that N690 is the material that the best choose.

Not without reason. N690 steel is produced by an Austrian steel plant Böhler, one of the most respected tool and specialty steel manufacturers in the world. This is steel created in modern powder technologies, which guarantees a uniform structure, high resistance to cracking and ease of further processing.

Application of N690 steel

What further confirms the quality of this steel is that it is used not only in hacksaws. N690 used m.in. in:

  • surgeries - for the manufacture of scalpels and medical instruments, where absolute cleanliness and reliability are required,
  • food processing industry - in professional cutting tools,
  • rescue and military knives - where reliability in extreme conditions matters.

This shows that we are not dealing with ordinary steel, but with a material that is suitable for the most demanding applications.

Why do I choose N690 for hunting knives?

When creating hunting knives, I know that they will work in the forest, in the wet, on the hide and cutting meat-in conditions that put steel to the test. The N690 handles this perfectly. It is not easily susceptible to rust, keeps sharpness for a long time and allows you to achieve ideal cutting properties.

For me, this is steel that did not fail – not when I, as a novice knife, made my first knife out of it, nor today, when I, as a master, am looking for reliable materials for hunting knives.

Steel that carries history

Looking at that first kitchen knife, I know that N690 steel is more than just a material. the beginning of my journey, A symbol of science, passion and responsibility. Today, I consciously choose it for many hunting projects, because I know that every knife made from it has the potential to serve its owner for years – and maybe even generations.
